Best Of Houston® 2025: Best Coffee
Best Coffee: A 2nd Cup
We like our coffee shops like we like our coffee – we prefer a rich blend of flavors and something robust to shake us out of our sleepwalk. In Houston, A 2nd Cup is the place which best reflects just how vital a good espresso or latte can be. The northside coffee shop features the drinks you’d expect from your local craft coffee café. There’s ample space for business or leisure meets. But, the space is dotted with reminders that proceeds from sales fight the scourge of human trafficking. Houston has traditionally logged more human trafficking cases than any U.S. city, so any effort to bring awareness to this plight is critical.
The shop is owned and operated by the nonprofit organization United Against Human Trafficking and it has partnered with other area establishments to spread awareness, most notably in 2025 with Cochinita & Co., a past Best of Houston winner. As important as the mission to educate, partner and provide is, A 2nd Cup also takes its coffee (and select food items like breakfast tacos and tortas) seriously. We’ve sampled matchas, cappuccinos and reliable drip coffees and are never disappointed. One recent revelation is The Talia, an iced, shaken espresso with almond milk, sugar free vanilla, hazelnut and cinnamon – so refreshing. But, of course, everything tastes better knowing your coffee fix could also help fix a notorious issue in the city you love.
