Best of Houston ® 2025: Best Brewery
Best Brewery: Frost Town Brewing
Named after one of the city’s first neighborhoods, which was enriched by German and Mexican immigrant influence, Frost Town Brewing is proving itself a solid player in present day Houston when it comes to community and craft brews. Located on the edge of Downtown, in the shadow of the newly named Daikin Park, the brewery is spacious but also feels homey.
There’s ample outdoor seating and two indoor, air-conditioned levels for folks to break out board games (they have plenty, or bring your own), watch the Astros, eat from food trucks or delve into the brewery’s diverse programming, which boasts weekly features like Dungeons and Dragons Tuesdays and Yoga & Brunch Sundays, along with music bingo and trivia nights.
Frost Town would be just another place to gather, like church or the bank, if not for its solid, award-winning suds. In a nod to Frost Town (the original’s) German roots, the brewery’s best offering is Frost Bier, its flagship Kölsch ale. It’s reliably crisp and tasty any time of the year. The brewery serves a fantastic hazy IPA called Sandstorm, which checks in at 6.5% ABV and gives the tropics thanks to big, fruity aromas.
A favorite is Honeybush Light, a smooth, low-ABV table beer that was introduced during Pride Month and is a collaboration with Colorado’s Lady Justice Brewing. It’s the sort of team-up we love, one which connects Houston to the world far beyond the borders of Frost Town, as it originally existed and as one of the city’s best breweries today.
